Penguin Update

Penguin 4.0 was released in September 2016. It was then announced by Gary Illyes of Google that this new update would just devalue the spammy links rather than penalize the site. The site’s ranking won’t be affected, which means that the site won’t face a penalty.

Apparently, he had suggested that the Webmaster could help find spammy sites by disavowing links they know are bad. He had further mentioned that the manual actions still happen. Through this, we can safely infer that the disavow file is still useful in manual penalty recovery.

But then the algorithmic penalties do exist. According to Moz, there are still algorithmic penalties handed by Google and clearly, the disavow files still works on these algorithmic penalties.

What changed in the Penguin 4.0 update?

The main objective of the penguin4.0 update was to promote quality content and hamper anyone practicing unethical link building. The two major changes that the new Penguin 4.0 brought in were:

  • Penguin became real- time
  • Penguin no longer penalized the whole site

Now, with the new research, we really are not sure of how the penalizing method was changed.

How can you stay away from the brutal Penguin attack?

In order to make sure that your site is protected from Penguin 4.0 then here is what you should do:

1. Remove Harmful Links

You can always petition Webmaster to remove spammy links from the offending sites. You can also disavow them using Google disavow tool.

2. Focus on Quality Content

The best way to earn links is to create high-quality content. You can properly prepare a content calendar or opt for good content marketing & SEO content writing services from a good SEO company in India.

3) Diversify your Link Building
Try to win relevant high authority links from various sites that can help you spread your content organically. This shouldn’t be too hard if your content is good.
